Honey
Saturday, December 5th, 2009Extracting: liquid Gold
Tuesday, September 1st, 2009Sunday the 30th of August. We removed one deep super and about three full additional frames of honey from the two templeton colonies. Then we set up the hand powered extractor and began the process. About six hours from set up until cleanup was completed. Five gallons of golden deliciousness. The honey was then strained only not filtered. We didn’t apply any heat during this entire process. So what we have here is raw honey, the only way to get it any more raw and fresh would be to take a spoon and eat it right out of the comb in the hive. We will be offering some of this templeton honey on our local harvest store: http://www.localharvest.org/store/M26726&ul
From Mush and Crush to Sweet and Neat
Tuesday, July 14th, 2009Crush &Strain
Sunday, July 12th, 2009Pulled a bar of Avocado Honey today, crushed it into a 600 micron strainer. After the honey is gravity fed through this strainer I will pass it through a 400 micron strainer. Then I will pour the honey into some small jars and let the sun melt the beeswax for use by some local artisens. The honey is never heated or cooked, only pure un medicated honey and wax from MBB.
